Galaxy Hockey Academy Scores Young Skaters With AI, but the Coach Still Has the Final Say
Dubai's Galaxy Hockey Academy has launched two free tools, Skating Score and Hockey IQ, that put numbers on a young player's skating and hockey knowledge. A coach still confirms every result on the ice.
Dubai’s Galaxy Hockey Academy has launched two free tools that put a number on a young player’s skating and hockey knowledge. A parent films 10 seconds of a child skating and gets a score, while a 12-question quiz tests hockey IQ.
The academy trains more than 300 children in Dubai, from age 3 through the U6 to U17 age groups, with adult groups alongside. It has trained in Dubai since 2022.
Two tools, both free
Skating Score takes a 10-second clip filmed side-on and returns a score from 0 to 100 in about a minute. It scores stance, forward lean, stride rhythm and balance, each against a target range.
The video is analysed in the browser and never uploaded. A coach confirms the result on the ice.

Hockey IQ is a 12-question quiz for children 6 to 12 and their parents. It takes about three minutes, needs no sign-up and saves nothing, and ends with a score from 0 to 100, a Galaxy level and a card to share.

Both tools are free. Each result ends with an invitation to show the score to a Galaxy coach, and families who accept get a reply on WhatsApp the same day.
What the scores cannot do
Skating Score is a guide, and the academy does not publish an accuracy percentage. It cannot judge edges, speed or game sense, and if it cannot read stride rhythm it leaves rhythm out and scores the other three skills.
The tool was built in October 2026 on an open pose-tracking model that runs in the browser. It was tested with automated checks and a small set of clips from the academy’s own ice, and there is no validation study to point to yet, with calibration on children’s clips continuing.
The tools went live in October 2026, so the evidence so far is thin. The number of completed tests is small, and there are no meaningful usage figures and no parent reviews to quote yet.
The Galaxy Method
In conventional coaching, assessment tends to live in the coach’s head and in a chat by the boards. The Galaxy Method keeps the coach and adds measurement, so the coach sees the child, the AI sees the numbers and together they show the family the road.
The method rests on five pillars. Measured skills come first, alongside a path to the pros from age 6, character that counts, AI in every practice and one passport across its cities.
Character counts through stars for sleep, school and respect in its Road to Pro game. Skating Score, Hockey IQ and Road to Pro work today, while the monthly report and the passport are in build for 2027.
Parents deserve to see where their child is heading. No academy can guarantee a result, so we are building the tools that show every family the road.

What happens next
Two things are in build for 2027. A monthly report for parents will cover skating, shot, game sense and character, and a player passport will keep video, numbers and ranking in one place.
No launch months have been announced for either. Around them, the academy is building video review of every session, highlights for every child and a family assistant in WhatsApp in five languages, also for 2027.
The method then travels with the child. Dubai is home today, Jakarta follows from November 2026 and the Gulf is next, with Galaxy Cup stages around the world and the final in Dubai.

On the ice this autumn
This autumn the academy’s U11 team won gold at the Istanbul Cup on 17 October and at an international tournament in Tashkent on 1 November 2026. AMYLCO is the academy’s General Partner.

The academy describes itself as the strongest hockey academy in the Middle East and the first AI hockey academy in the world. Those are its own descriptions, and readers can try both free tools and judge for themselves.
