Alpha Dhabi Holding has signed an agreement to commit $1 billion to Alpha Wave III, a global investment fund managed by Alpha Wave Global. The commitment, worth approximately AED 3.67 billion, gives the Abu Dhabi-listed group diversified exposure to artificial intelligence companies.
The commitment remains subject to any applicable approvals. Alpha Dhabi said its capital will be deployed over time, in line with capital calls and the fund’s investment programme.
Alpha Wave III is expected to invest globally in artificial intelligence and high-growth businesses developing and applying transformative technologies. Alpha Dhabi said the fund offers access to structural growth themes through a specialist platform focused on long-term value creation.
The commitment builds on Alpha Dhabi’s participation in Alpha Wave Ventures II. Through that earlier fund, the group gained indirect exposure to companies including SpaceX, OpenAI, and Anthropic.
Alpha Dhabi plans to fund the new commitment by recycling cash distributions from Alpha Wave Ventures II, alongside existing resources. The financial impact will be recognised over time, reflecting the timing of capital deployment and the performance of the fund’s underlying investments.
“Our USD 1 billion commitment to Alpha Wave III builds on our participation in Alpha Wave Ventures II and broadens Alpha Dhabi’s access to artificial intelligence and innovation-led opportunities.”
“This investment supports our portfolio diversification objectives and our focus on long-term value creation. It also reflects our disciplined approach to allocating capital to opportunities that can create enduring value for our shareholders.”
Both quotes are from Eng. Hamad Al Ameri, managing director and group chief executive officer of Alpha Dhabi Holding.
Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, Alpha Dhabi manages more than 250 public and private investments across 45 countries. The group employs 95,000 people worldwide.
Alpha Dhabi’s earlier commitment to Alpha Wave Ventures II, made in 2022, totalled Dh9.2 billion. That commitment comprised a Dh2.6 billion capital contribution and a Dh6.6 billion undrawn commitment to be called over time.
We will keep tracking how Abu Dhabi’s big holding groups put capital to work in global artificial intelligence, and what Alpha Wave III backs next.
