Content Editor
Qojo Media is hiring a Content Editor with 3 to 5 years of experience to edit daily business and technology news for the Middle East. Remote role, urgent requirement, publication experience preferred.
About the role
Qojo Media is an independent business and technology publication covering the companies, people, capital and ideas shaping the Middle East. We publish daily stories on startups, funding, technology and business across the region, and our newsroom is growing.
We are looking for a Content Editor with 3 to 5 years of experience to join our editorial team. This is a remote role. You will take stories from first draft to publication, work closely with our writers through the day, and protect the accuracy, clarity and voice our readers trust. Experience at a digital news publication or media organisation is preferred for this role, because the pace and standards of a newsroom are exactly what this job runs on.
You will report to the founding editors and play a central part in how Qojo Media sounds as it grows: careful with facts, sharp in headlines, and always written for a busy reader who wants the story straight.
What you will do
- Edit daily news stories on startups, funding, technology and business for accuracy, clarity and structure
- Check facts, figures, names and quotes against sources before publication
- Write sharp headlines, summaries and social copy for edited stories
- Work with writers on story selection, angles and deadlines through the day
- Enforce Qojo Media's editorial guidelines, house style and corrections policy
- Review SEO titles and meta descriptions so stories are ready to rank and share
- Publish and update stories in WordPress, including images, links and categories
- Track Middle East business news and flag the stories worth covering
What we are looking for
- 3 to 5 years of experience editing content, ideally in a newsroom or digital publication
- Experience at a digital news publication or media organisation is strongly preferred
- Excellent command of English, with a sharp eye for grammar, structure and factual errors
- Strong news judgment and the ability to edit quickly without lowering standards
- Working knowledge of WordPress and basic SEO for news content
- Comfort working remotely with a distributed team across time zones
- Real interest in Middle East business, startups and technology
Nice to have
- Experience editing business or technology coverage
- Familiarity with analytics tools and headline testing
- Experience mentoring or managing freelance writers
- Working knowledge of Arabic
