Qojo Media is hiring Content Writers with 3 to 5 years of experience to write daily startup, business and technology news for the Middle East. 5 openings, fully remote role.
About the role
Qojo Media is an independent business and technology publication covering the companies, people, capital and ideas shaping the Middle East. We publish daily stories on startups, funding, technology and business across the region, and our newsroom is growing.
We are looking for Content Writers with 3 to 5 years of experience to join our editorial team. We have 5 openings, and the role is fully remote. You will write the regionu2019s startup and business stories as they break, from funding rounds and product launches to founder interviews, and your byline will sit on stories read by founders, investors and operators across the Middle East.
You will work with our editors through the day, filing clean and accurate copy on deadline. If you follow the regionu2019s startup scene closely and write fast without cutting corners on facts, this is your seat.
What you will do
- Write daily news stories on startups, funding, technology and business across the Middle East
- Turn announcements, filings and interviews into clean, accurate stories on deadline
- Cover funding rounds, company launches, expansions and leadership moves as they happen
- Interview founders, investors and operators and turn conversations into readable copy
- Write headlines, summaries and social copy for your stories
- Check every fact, figure, name and quote against first-hand sources before filing
- Follow Qojo Mediau2019s editorial guidelines and house style in every story
- Track the regionu2019s startup and business news and pitch stories worth covering
What we are looking for
- 3 to 5 years of experience writing content, ideally for a digital publication or newsroom
- Excellent command of English and the ability to write clean copy quickly
- Strong news judgment and a feel for what makes a business story worth reading
- Experience covering startups, business or technology is strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of WordPress and basic SEO for news content
- Comfort working remotely with a distributed team across time zones
- Real interest in Middle East business, startups and technology
Nice to have
- Experience writing about the Middle East startup ecosystem
- Interviewing experience with founders or investors
- Familiarity with analytics and social distribution
- Working knowledge of Arabic
